Lawn Fawn august inspiration week: candy corn

Hi there!

Welcome back to another day of this month's Lawn Fawn inspiration week. I'm not a huge fan of candy corn (read: that stuff is disgusting) but the new candy corn add-on set is seriously cute.

Lawn Fawn august inspiration week

It's a mini set, and designed to fit into the previously-released How You Bean set.

I went with a classic candy corn/halloween black+white color scheme.

Lawn Fawn august inspiration week

I stamped the big candy corn image directly into the jar, and then stamped and hand-cut another layer of them that I staggered slightly so that the jar would look more full. A few extras I layered on top of those, and added some faces to them. Poor little guy on top! Do you think his buddy on the bottom is more sympathetic, or relieved to have escaped a nibble?

ha.

Lawn Fawn August inspiration week

Hi there!

It's time for this month's Lawn Fawn inspiration week. Their new release is so much fun! I don't know how they manage to wow after all this time, but I get so giddy when I open up my new Lawn Fawn boxes.

Today, we're showing off Costume Party. I posted this card to my blog last month for the sneak peeks, but Kelly Marie recreated it in a video on the LF blog this morning. Click over to see a step-by-step. I love these unicorns!

Any set that can be used for the halloween, but also year-round is a winner in my mind!

Pinkfresh Studio design team line-up and Escape the Ordinary blog hop

Hi there!

I'm so happy to be able to announce that I will be joining the Pinkfresh Studio team. I love their designs, especially how innovative and whimsical they are.

I created 2 cards to show you today. The first one uses my favorite set of their current release, Forest Friends. This set alone convinced me to say yes when Kinnari asked me to join their team!

Pinkfresh Studio design team

I used the matching die to create the layered scene, and stamped each image into its pre-designed spot.  I also stamped the images separately, and used scissors to cut them out, to give even more dimension.

Pinkfresh Studio design team

To finish off, I used copic markers to add greenery and tree branch definition. The little mushrooms that I added beside the sentiment come from another set, called Unicorn Dreams.

Pinkfresh Studio design team

I used Unicorn Dreams to create my 2nd card:

I love how big this unicorn is! She covers the entire card-front, making figuring out a design so much easier.

For a different look, I wiped off the ink on all of the florals inside the unicorn's body and kept her simpler. That allowed me to add the sentiment medallion right on top of the unicorn without it looking too busy.

I stamped and die-cut all kinds of florals included in the set and set them at her feet.

Now, onto the fun part! There is a huge GIVEAWAY happening!  Leave a comment on each of blogs along the hop for a chance to win the entire Escape the Ordinary collection:

and another winner will claim the entire set of stamps and dies, valued at over 100$:

I hope you like my projects! Here is a complete list of today's blog hop participants:

Hi there!

I'm joining the rest of the AE team for our new release blog hop! I've been doing monthly features as part of the team, but from now on, I'll be joining the rest of the team for the new release blog hops.

I used the new Shaker Tags dies, along with Brring on the Joy (I freaking love these penguins!) to create these non-shaker layered tags:

Avery Elle new release blog hop!

I used the Falling Snow die on the bottom layer, and then used foam tape (so much foam tape) so that they would look good and layered.

I love their different poses!

Neat and Tangled 5th birthday day 3

Hi there!

I'm back with another Wild Ones card, to celebrate Neat and Tangled's 5th birthday.

Neat and Tangled 5th birthday!

I wanted to use the little snake, since he has been neglected until now! I stamped the monkey and added a few balloons to his bunch, and gave the shy snake a little party hat.

Neat and Tangled 5th birthday!

I punched up the party theme with a bright, rainbow-striped background patterned paper.

I hope you like it!  There's still time to enter my giveaway!

Leave me a comment on any of this week's Wild Ones blog posts for a chance to win a 15$ gift certificate to the Neat and Tangled store. You have between now and Sunday, August 13th at 11:59pm EST to enter.

Neat and Tangled 5th birthday celebration day 2

Hi there!

While I'm not taking part of the official blog hop list over at Neat and Tangled, I couldn't help but create a few cards using my new set, Wild Ones.

Neat and Tangled 5th birthday!

I did some ink blending on the background piece, and flicked white ink onto the surface, before framing out the scene and adding the critters.

Neat and Tangled 5th birthday!

I love the giraffe looking up at the little bird! I nestled the bird onto the monkey's balloon, and placed the presents onto the giraffe's back.

Neat and Tangled 5th birthday!

I finished off the birthday parade with the little turtle. He comes with cake! I used the Celebrate die-cut and drew on a hashtag sign to accompany the Party Animal sentiment that comes with this set.

I hope you like it!

GIVEAWAY: I have a 15$ gift certificate to the Neat and Tangled store to give away! Leave me a comment on this post (and, yesterday's post too to increase your chances!) between now and Sunday, August 13th at 11:59 PM EST, and I'll pick a winner.

Neat and Tangled 5th birthday celebration!

Hi there!

I'm so thrilled to be part of the Neat and Tangled team, and especially when they are celebrating this milestone birthday. I was thrilled to be able to meet Danielle for dinner on our way down to Virginia Beach a few days ago. I wish either of us had remembered to snap a photo! But she is the sweetest and kindest person, and I am so lucky to be working for her.  Happy 5th birthday, Neat and Tangled!

For this birthday month, things aren't running in their usual way. The new sets are available for purchase right now instead of at the end of the week! And the regular design team has the month off to make room for special guests in a week-long blog hop. For more details, check out the NT blog this morning - click!

GIVEAWAY: I do have a 15$ gift certificate to give away on my blog! Leave a comment on this post between now and Sunday August 13th 11:59 EST and I will pick a winner.

I illustrated a set that worked with our birthday theme, called Wild Ones.

Neat and Tangled 5th birthday!

I couldn't help but pair the images in Wild Ones with the new hand-lettered Hooray. All of the products released this month work so well together!

I did some simple ink-blending at the top of the folded card, and allowed the color to fade to nothing before grounding the images with a kraft-colored hill.

Neat and Tangled 5th birthday!

When I added the critters and the big HOORAY die-cut, I blended them into the background by coloring the outline around them blue wherever they would be sitting on the blue-inked card-base.

I hope you like it! The giraffe and the monkey make me smile so big!

Orange you glad party (for Lawn Fawn)

Hi there!

Every year when my older kiddos come home from camp, I try to have a surprise waiting for them.  This is their 3 year as sleep-away campers, and I love baking and decorating a little something to show how much we missed them.

Their first year, I welcomed them home with a watermelon party.

Their second year, it was an owl theme.

This year, we got a little punny with an ORANGE YOU GLAD! themed-party.

Orange you glad party (for Lawn Fawn)

I used Lawn Fawn products to create all of the paperie for this party, including the backdrop, which was a breeze to make!

To set the theme, I used alphabet stamps to create a party sign:

Orange you glad party (for Lawn Fawn)

From there, everything on the table supported the orange theme. There were orange colored and flavored gummies and candies that I popped into little store-bought treat boxes (I had those leftover from last fall!)

Orange you glad party (for Lawn Fawn)

I sliced up a few oranges and slid them into milk bottles for an extra pop of color. The striped straws only needed some die-cut leaves to carry the orange theme!

Orange you glad party (for Lawn Fawn)

I found these perfect little orange slice pouches at Michaels on liquidation for a dollar each. So good, right? I created a little tag, colored the centers orange and added another leaf.

Orange you glad party (for Lawn Fawn)

The cake was my labor of love for the week. I followed this recipe from The Cake Blog and it was delicious. My parents and in-laws especially loved it. My kids said: so good, but next time something with chocolate, ok? ha.

Orange you glad party (for Lawn Fawn)

I created a simple, but effective cake topper using a circle die and a set of leaf dies. I hand-cut a brown stem, and added some accents using a brown copic marker.

Hop on over to the Lawn Fawn blog to see how I used the negative circle and leaf die-cuts to create a sponged orange backdrop. As I was setting up, my sister asked where I got the perfect orange wrapping paper - woot! She thought it was store-bought and it took under 30 minutes to pull together.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lawn Fawn/Marvy collab

Hi there!

We've reached the end of our Lawn Fawn/Marvy collaboration week, and I'm showing off my contribution:

Lawn Fawn/Marvy collab

The folks at Marvy were so generous and sent me a set of Le Plume markers. They are alcohol markers like Copics, and blend beautifully. I used them to color the plane (from Plane and Simple,) the edge of the clouds, and the banner.  I will definitely be reaching for them again!

Lawn Fawn/Marvy collab

The custom sentiment was a labor of love. I saw it on a chalkboard print and wanted to recreate it on my card. The latter part was easy - I used Riley's ABCs to spell out AIRPLANES FLY. No problemo.

For the first half, that I slipped into the banner, I spliced letters and words together from Sewn With Love. What you see here is not my first try, but I thought the sentiment was so sweet and I'm a little stubborn.

I hope you like it! There's more to see on the LF blog this morning - click!

Below is a little bit more about Ellen Hutson's United We Flourish program:

Last November we began celebrating our 10th anniversary with the theme United We Flourish. And what does United We Flourish mean? It means that our company would not be here without the amazing companies we work with, the designers who create stunning projects showcasing the wonderful products being created AND you, our fabulous customers! YOU are such a vital part of our creative community - you inspire & encourage us! Your response to United We Flourish was overwhelming and heart-warming. To thank you for your constant support and encouragement, we have partnered with some of our friends to offer exclusive limited edition stamp & die sets!!! We are thrilled to present the second one to you... G’Day Mate Avery Elle exclusively for Ellen Hutson LLC.

That koala stole my heart. I did some ink blending and gave the koala and his baby center stage.

The sentiment just cracks me up. I layered the Burst Elle-ments onto a Horizontal Stripes Elle-ments layer. These dies make it so easy to come up with a card design!

Lawn Fawn 2017 fall/winter sneak peek week!

Hi there!

Lawn Fawn is unveiling their fall/winter collection this week.  It's a goooood one!

Lawn Fawn 2017 fall/winter sneak peek week

I don't know that I'm ready to craft in Halloween colors yet, though, so I used the new Costume Party set to make this girly unicorn card.

Lawn Fawn 2017 fall/winter sneak peek week

I had so much fun coloring this little images!

Next up, I did go a bit fall-ish with the new set, Forest Feast:

Lawn Fawn 2017 fall/winter sneak peek week

I mean, let's be honest. I'll take a piece of pumpkin pie any time of year!

Lawn Fawn 2017 fall/winter sneak peek week

The giant tree stump is such a winner. I will be using it again and again for sure. And that racoon? So nice, I stamped it twice. ha.

Dreamboat (with Avery Elle)

Hi there!

I'm here and on the Avery Elle blog today with a card that combines the newer Waves Ellements coverplate and a older favorite, Dreamboat.

Dreamboat (with Avery Elle)

This is the kind of card that looks so much cuter in real life than in photos! The subtle, light coloring is really hard to capture. In any case, I chopped the waves die-cut to make room for the gondola on top. I love those wavy layers! I kept all of the pieces intact, and it gives a gorgeous texture that way.

It's a little hard to see, but I added some shading to the waves with a copic marker and flicked white ink over the top to give even more interest to that piece.

Dreamboat (with Avery Elle)

I did some pink ink-blending behind the couple, and kept the coloring of their outfits and hair very light. I curved the sentiment so that it mirrored the waves below.

I hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!

more Schoolhouse (with Neat and Tangled)

Hi there!

I'm here and on the NT blog this morning with a couple of cards using the new Schoolhouse stamp set.

more Schoolhouse (with Neat and Tangled)

I would give this card to my kids on the first day of school. I used Schoolhouse and a sentiment from Awesome.

more Schoolhouse (with Neat and Tangled)

The ink blending was done with mint and yellow, and I love where it blends to a green somewhere in the middle. The little mouse handing the fox his lunchbox is my fave!

more Schoolhouse (with Neat and Tangled)

My second card shows how the little critters can be used outside of the school theme. The little mice are handing the birthday fox some treats and gifts for his special day. The little images are from the also-new Puppy's Favorite Things.

I hope you like what I've created! Thanks for stopping by!

Puppy's Favorite Things (Neat and Tangled new release)

Hi there!

It's the last day of reveals over for this month's new Neat and Tangled, and we're ending off with a 3x4 set that I designed, Puppy's Favorite Things.

It's a follow-up to the previously-released Kitty's Favorite Things. The puppy and kitty are sized to work together, and we've included a little die that you could use to cut around the puppy's paws, so that he could hold any of the smaller images in the set. The same die works with the kitty's paws as well! It was something that I always wished I had with the kitty set. so yay!

Puppy's favorite things (Neat and Tangled new release)

I colored 2 puppys and gave them party (or should I say PAW-ty) accessories. I also tucked the little tennis ball and food bowl at their feet.

I used the new Modern Triangles cover-plate in red behind the images. I think it's so cool!

Puppy's favorite things (Neat and Tangled new release)

To finish off, I flicked some brown ink over the kraft layer and assembled the card.

In case you missed my card from Monday, here's a look at the puppy and kitty (from Kitty's Favorite Things) together.

Let's get together (Neat and Tangled release week)

I love that little stuffed kitty! And the fact that they can share all of their little images is so fun.

Thanks for all of your excitement over my sets this month! It always puts a huge smile on my face to read your sweet comments.

Schoolhouse (Neat and Tangled release week)

***If you're looking for my Lawn Fawn puppy party, scroll down or click HERE.

Schoolhouse (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there!

I'm so excited to show you the newest set I've illustrated for Neat and Tangled. It's called Schoolhouse and is full of cute images that can be used for teacher cards and more.

I have a few cards to show you, so strap in!

Schoolhouse (Neat and Tangled release week)

My first card is school-themed, for a great friend. I've used the large apple and pencil images, and the backpack-wearing bear. I love that bear so much! I could see him being used on camping cards as well.

I stamped the first part of the sentiment onto the wavy banner from Scalloped and then die-cut the letters to spell friend.

Schoolhouse (Neat and Tangled release week)

The second one features the cutest images from the set, the little mice! There are 2 of them, mirror-imaged, perfect for carrying bigger objects. I have one on top of the toy school-bus, handing a lunchbox to the bear, and the other 2 are carrying the giant pencil. I love them! I can't wait to make a card with them carrying a large Christmas ornament, like THIS ONE (but maybe after the summer's done. ha.)

Schoolhouse (Neat and Tangled release week)

Using my MISTI tool, I made a variation of the previous card and stamped enough card fronts for the kids to color and customize for their teachers. I wanted the kids to put a bit of their hearts into the gift for the teachers who have poured their hearts out all year for their students.

Schoolhouse (Neat and Tangled release week)

Can you pick out which child colored each card?

I hope you liked this first look at Schoolhouse! There is more design team inspiration on the Neat and Tangled blog this morning - click!

As always, before you go, leave me a comment to be eligible for a 25$ gift card to the store.
